2. What further shade planting is needed?

  • Remember at the start of the management cycle, you scored paddocks for the amount of shade they provided in the middle of the day and how far they are from the dairy. What shade did they seem to prefer?
  • Look at your hottest paddocks - is there more planting you could do?
  • Which section of laneway needs shade trees next?
  • Are there areas around the dairy or the feedpad where trees could be planted?
  • Could shade be enhanced using vines or trellis structures?

Dig out the review you conducted at the start of the process or mark areas for planning on your farm map.
